Dejene

Dejene is 12 years old. He lives with his mom and his older sister in Ethiopia. After the recent loss of his father, his mother has struggled to earn enough money to provide the basics like food, clothing and schooling for her children. Dejene loves school and his mother describes him as happy and helpful. He recently helped his mother and sister plant false banana on their small plot. Their intention was to provide a food source for the family and generate some income by selling what they didn’t need. But poor weather and other conditions resulted in a failed crop.
