Irma

Irma is a typical 4-year-old who loves to play. She lives with her parents and five siblings. Her three oldest sisters dropped out of school after sixth grade and now all work as house cleaners or full-time babysitters. Her two younger siblings are still in elementary school. The COVID-19 pandemic has meant no in-person classes since the start of 2021; students go to the school once a week to collect homework assignments and turn in the previous week’s assignments. Those in the sponsorship program get help with homework from staff and local volunteers.
